TikTok ban extended: Latest deadline, and which players are interested to buy TikTok?

President Donald Trump has extended the deadline for ByteDance, TikTok's Chinese parent company, to sell its U.S. operations by 75 days beyond the original April 5, 2025, cutoff. This extension aims to allow more time to secure necessary approvals and finalize a deal.

The U.S. government has been in discussions with four potential non-Chinese buyers, though their identities have not been disclosed. A significant hurdle remains: obtaining approval from the Chinese government for the sale.

To facilitate negotiations, President Trump has indicated a willingness to reduce the current 54% tariffs on Chinese imports if an agreement on TikTok is reached. He emphasized the desire to keep TikTok operational in the U.S., where it boasts 170 million users.
